Maya Rohit Shetty graduated from the B.V.Sc.(M) degree course in Zoology and Botany, Karnatak University, Dharwad in 1969 and obtained a M.Sc. degree in Zoology in 1972. Maya worked as a lecturer at Guru Nanak College for Women (GNCW), Delhi University during 1975-77 before joining Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore as Senior Scientist/Botanist from 1977 to 1986;
Maya also served as Head : Department of Botany from 1986-1989 before being appointed as Dean : Faculty Development Council & Professor : Indian Institute of Management – Ahmedabad where she currently serves as Academic Advisor to students pursuing graduate studies in Management Engineering Programmes through IIT Madras along with her research interests on quantum chemistry & molecular biology based approaches towards sustainable development issues related to agriculture/forestry sector etcetera.”
